Background: Angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is an exopeptidase that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin II to angiotensin 1-7 and L-phenylalanine. Angiotensin II is part of the classical renin angiotensin system (RAS), a hormone system that regulates fluid balance, blood pressure, and maintains vascular tone. ACE2 plays a role in lowering blood pressure and in cardiovascular health and therefore, is an attractive therapeutic target. ACE2 is also the receptor for the human respiratory coronaviruses NL63, SARS (SARS-CoV) and 2019-nCoV/SARS-CoV-2.
Description: Recombinant rhesus macaque angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), encompassing amino acids 18-739. This construct contains a C-terminal His-tag (10xHis) and was affinity purified.
