Details

Rabbit Anti-Human AKT1 (pTyr315) Polyclonal
Target: AKT1 (pTyr315)
Purification: Peptide Affinity Purified
Specificity: Detects 55.686 kDa.
Tissue Specificity: Expressed in prostate cancer and levels increase from the normal to the malignant state (at protein level). Expressed in all human cell types so far analyzed. The Tyr-176 phosphorylated form shows a significant increase in expression in breast cancers during the progressive stages i.e. normal to hyperplasia (ADH), ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and lymph node metastatic (LNMM) stages.
Conjugate: Dylight 633
Immunogen Species: Human
Cellular Location: Cytoplasm, Nucleus, Cell Membrane
Immunogen: A phospho-specific peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Tyr315 of human Akt1 (AA312-318)
Scientific Background: AKT1 is a protein-serine/threonine kinase which is inactive in the cytoplasm. When PI3K is activated by extracellular growth factors, AKT1 is recruited to the cell membrane and phosphorylated to become active. This leads to the induction of survival, proliferation, angiogenesis and metabolism pathways. AKT1 is also involved in cell-cycle progression via its inhibitory phosphorylation of cyclin-dependent kinases and activatory phosphorylation of mTOR. Upregulation of the PI3K/AKT pathways has been implicated in a variety of cancers.
