Description: Produced by macrophages, IFN-alpha have antiviral activities. Interferon stimulates the production of two enzymes: a protein kinase and an oligoadenylate synthetase. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in E.coli. Single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain, 166 amino acids. The specific activity as determined in a viral resistance assay was found to be 1 x 108 IU/ mg.
