Background: The GST tag is derived from glutathione S-transferase. Its affinity for glutathione makes it ideal for protein purification purposes, but can also be used for WB, IP, and microscopic purposes. The tag is larger than most epitope tags and contributes to solubility of the tagged protein. Further, the tag can also be removed via a proteolytic cleavage if needed.
