Background: The antibody to VDR labels the nuclear receptor in a number of tissues like intestine, bone, kidney, epidermis, and endocrine cells. 1,25(OH)2-Vitamin D3, the active form of vitamin D binds to a nuclear receptor (Vitamin D receptor, VDR), which is acting as a transcription factor in calcium and bone metabolism. Many effects of vitamin D3 are due to VDR regulated transcription of certain target gens, which are involved in cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Vitamin D receptor, detects epitope aa 89-105 in human VDR.

Positive Control: Intestine, skin, kidney.

Immunogen: Partially purified chicken vitamin D receptor.
