CloneID: 4H9
Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was generated by immunizing female BALB/c mice intraperitoneally and subcutaneously with purified P23 emulsified in monophosphoryl A-trehalose dimycolate adjuvant.
Buffer Composition: PBS only.
Chimeric Use Statement: This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format for improved compatibility with existing reagents assays and techniques.
Specificity Statement: This antibody binds the GP25-200 antigen of Cryptosporidium parvum. Cryptosporidium parvum is a coccidian parasite that infects intestinal epithelium and causes diarrheal disease in humans and other agriculturally important food animals for which specific therapy and immunoprophylaxis are unavailable. Cryptosporidiosis is self-limiting in hosts with normal immune systems; however, in neonates, the elderly, and hosts having congenital or acquired immunodeficiency diseases or chemotherapy-induced immunosuppression, cryptosporidial enterocolitis may become chronic and have severe consequences.
Application Notes (Clone): This antibody can be used for the identification of sporozoites and GP25-200 antigen of C. parvum using western blot. The identification of sporozoite-neutralizing antibody was done using ELISA (PMID: 10768951). This antibody in combination with PLA2 or LL37 was also used in the generation of a biocide fusion proteins to kill C. parvum sporozoites in vitro and in vivo (PMID: 20086143).
