Application: Use as a control for studying differences between HLA-A alleles. Study T cell activation and responses to peptides presented by HLA-A*01:01.
Background: Human Leukocyte Antigen-A (HLA-A) is an MHC-I (major histocompatibility complex) heavy chain receptor, composed of HLA-A and β2-microglobulin (B2M). There are over 200 genes encoding HLA variants and this variability plays a critical role in adaptive immunity. HLA-A*01:01 is more common in Europe. It has been broadly linked to autoimmune disorders, type 1 diabetes, and infectious diseases. The presence of this haplotype was considered a risk for the development of severe COVID19, while it was also reported that it had a protective effect against severe bilaterial pneumonia. Studies in third wave patients pointed to an effect in forming long-term T cell immunity. Further in-depth studies are needed to fully understand the role of this haplotype as allele of risk or protection in immune-related disorders.
Description: The HLA-A*01:01 A549 Cell Line was generated by selecting a single clone from B2M Knockout A549 cells (#82871) transduced with a lentivirus expressing B2M (beta-2 microglobulin) HLA (human leukocyte antigen)-A*01:01, driven by an EF1a promoter (#82423). Purchase of this cell line is for research purposes only; commercial use requires a separate license. View the full terms and conditions.
Host Cell Line: A549 is a human lung alveolar vessel carcinoma cell line. Adherent epithelial cells.
Mycoplasma Testing: The cell line has been screened to confirm the absence of Mycoplasma species.
Storage Stability: Cells are shipped in dry ice and should immediately be thawed or stored in liquid nitrogen upon receipt. Do not use a -80°C freezer for long term storage.
