Background: Oligodendrocyte transcription factor 2 (OLig2) is a member of the oligg protein family of transcription factors related to the generation and maturation of oligodendrocytes. Olig2 is expressed in normal oligodendrocytes and neoplastic oligodendrocytes, and is also widely expressed in astrocytic tumors. It is mainly used in the diagnosis of oligodendroglial tumors.
