Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was generated by immunizing Balb/c mice were with 1-pyrene butyric acid-KLH.

Chimeric Use Statement: This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG2a format for improved compatibility with existing reagents assays and techniques.

Specificity Statement: The antibody shows general selectivity and high sensitivity to a variety of 3–5 ring PAH, but it shows a low affinity for 2-ring PAHs. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), a group of organic compounds composed of two or more blended aromatic rings, are an important class of environmental pollutants

Application Notes (Clone): The specificity of the original format of the antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis. The antibody could inhibit unsubstituted and methylated PAHs by indirect competitive ELISA. IC50 values for unsubstituted PAHs ranged from 1.68 μg/L to 9.44 μg/L, while IC50 values against methylated PAHs (2-methylphenanthrene, 9,10-dimethylanthracene, 7,12 dimethybenz(a)anthracene, 4-methyl dibenzothiophene) were ranging from 1.92 μg/L to 31 μg/L. The antibody was employed in the KinExA Inline Biosensor system for quantifying 3–5 ring PAHs in aqueous environmental samples (detection limit 0.2 μg/L) (Li et al., 2016; PMID: 26925369).
