CloneID: 9H3
Heavy Chain modification: ScFv
Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with human alpha-fetoprotein. The variable region genes of the antibody were used to generate the scFv version of this antibody.
Buffer Composition: PBS with 0.02% Proclin 300.
Available Custom Conjugation Options: AP, HRP, Fluorescein, APC, PE, Biotin Type A, Biotin Type B, Streptavidin, FluoroProbes 647H, Atto488, APC/Cy7, PE/Cy7
Uniprot Accession No.: P02771
Specificity Statement: This antibody binds human alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). AFP is made in the liver of developing babies. It binds copper, nickel, and fatty acids as well as, and bilirubin less well than, serum albumin. AFP levels in healthy adults is very low. Elevated levels of AFP in adult human blood is a marker for cancer.
Application Notes (Clone): The binding characterization of this antibody to human alpha-fetoprotein was done using ELISA. The inhibitory effect of single-chain antibody against alpha-fetoprotein-positive liver cancer cells was studies and it was found that the scFv antibody has a significant growth inhibitory effect on AFP-positive HepG2 and Bel7402. The scFv antibody was also found to significantly increase the sensitivity of AFP-positive HepG2 cells to all-trans retinoic acid (CN103319595).
