Specificity Statement: The antibody interacts specifically with native C3, containing an intact thioester bond and not with an inactive form of C3, containing a hydrolysed ester bond. The epitope in part located on the 23kD-α-chain fragment of C3c.
Application Notes (Clone): The specificity of the original format of the antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis. The binding affinity of the humanised version of the antibody to native C3 was measured by surface plasmon resonance (Kd= 5.9 nM). The murine and the humanised version of the antibody could inhibit the activation of C3 (WO2004031240A1).
