Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice intraperitoneally with Citrus tristeza virus (isolate T-308) preparation.

Origin Pub PMID: 18943374

Buffer Composition: PBS only.

Uniprot Accession No.: Q00686

Specificity Statement: This antibody binds the p25 major coat protein of the Citrus tristeza virus (CTV). Tristeza is the most important virus disease of citrus worldwide. It is caused by citrus tristeza virus (CTV), a closterovirus that is naturally spread in the fields by aphids in a semipersistent manner and is also easily transmitted by grafting. CTV is a monopartite, single stranded RNA virus encapsulated in a coat protein.

Application Notes (Clone): This antibody can be used for the detection of Citrus tristeza virus in crude extracts of plants infected with isolates T-300 or T-308 using ELISA and double antibody sandwich ELISA. This antibody reacted with 20 CTV isolates from different Spanish citrus areas as well as with CTV isolates from California (T-514) and two unclassified from Iran and Vietnam in an ELISA (Vela et al., 1986). Transgenic plants expressing this antibody showed both a delay in symptom appearance and attenuation of symptom intensity. Overall, 40–60% of the plants were resistant, as revealed by the absence of virus antigens in tissue-print ELISA (PMID: 20204695).
