Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was isolated from a combinatorial library of human antibodies (AIMS4) using a phage-display system by panning the library against purified varicella-zoster virus (VZV) gH:gL complex.

Buffer Composition: PBS with 0.02% Proclin 300.

Available Custom Conjugation Options: AP, HRP, Fluorescein, APC, PE, Biotin Type A, Biotin Type B, Streptavidin, FluoroProbes 647H, Atto488, APC/Cy7, PE/Cy7

Uniprot Accession No.: Q775J3; Q9J3N1

Specificity Statement: This antibody targets the domain IV region of envelope glycoprotein B of the Varicella zoster virus (VZV) also known as the human herpesvirus 3 (HHV-3, HHV3) or Human alpha herpesvirus 3. This DNA virus from the herpes virus group can infect humans causing chickenpox in children and shingles (herpes zoster) in adults. Varicella is characterized by a maculopapular, vesicular rash that can be pruritic and evolves into dried crusts (scabs) over a 3- to 7-day period. Chicken pox is considered contagious beginning 1-2 days before rash onset until all lesions have crusted (scabbed).

Application Notes (Clone): This antibody reacted with gH and gL in an ELISA. This antibody was also capable of reacting with gH:gL complex and VZV-infected cells. This antibody was used for the immunoperoxidase staining of VZV-infected human embryonic lung (HEL) cells. This antibody neutralized wild strains without showing strain specificity. This antibody was also reported to prevent the spreading of virus infection. This antibody was also capable of immunoprecipitating gH and gL glycoproteins of VZV (PMID: 17457901).
