Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was isolated from a scFv phage display library generated using the peripheral blood lymphocytes from a hemophilia patient.

Buffer Composition: PBS only.

Uniprot Accession No.: P00451

Specificity Statement: This antibody is specific for an epitope 'RPLYSRRLPKGVKHLKDFPILPGEI' (residues 389 to 510) in the A2 domain of the human factor VIII, a glycoprotein involved in blood coagulation. Factor VIII acts as a cofactor for factor IXa which converts factor X to the activated form Xa in the presence of calcium and phospholipids. Defects in the F8 gene, which encodes Factor VIII, result in the coagulation disorder hemophilia A.

Application Notes (Clone): This antibody can bind human blood coagulation factor VIII in an ELISA. It was reported that this antibody potently inhibits the coagulation activity of factor VIII in vitro at a concentration of 10 ng/ml. This antibody does not inactivate FVIII bound with vWF but inactivated FVIII free from vWF (US20040120951).
