CloneID: MBM-14
Antigen Long Description: This antibody was isolated from a human single chain Fv (scFv) phage library using phage display technology. The library was generated from the mRNA obtained from the spleen of an immunized mouse injected with recombinant human GDF-15 protein.
Buffer Composition: PBS with 0.02% Proclin 300.
Available Custom Conjugation Options: AP, HRP, Fluorescein, APC, PE, Biotin Type A, Biotin Type B, Streptavidin, FluoroProbes 647H, Atto488, APC/Cy7, PE/Cy7
Uniprot Accession No.: Q99988
Specificity Statement: This antibody binds the human growth/differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) also known as macrophage inhibitory cytokine 1. GDF-15 is a divergent member of the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily. While physiological expression is barely detectable in most somatic tissues in humans, GDF-15 is abundant in placenta. It regulates food intake, energy expenditure and body weight in response to metabolic and toxin-induced stresses. Highly elevated GDF-15 levels are mostly linked to pathological conditions including inflammation, myocardial ischemia, and notably cancer. GDF-15 is widely explored as a biomarker for disease prognosis.
Application Notes (Clone): The binding characterization of this antibody was done using ELISA. This antibody was reported to inhibit tube formation of HUVEC cells and branching of arterial sections. This antibody can effectively block the angiogenesis-inducing function of MIC-1 (KR101346132).
