CloneID: MAb201
Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with E. coli derived recombinant human IL-1 beta /IL-1F2 (aa 117-269).
Buffer Composition: PBS only.
Uniprot Accession No.: P01584
Specificity Statement: This antibody binds human Interleukin-1 beta, which is a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine. This antibody is reported to show some cross reactivity with recombinant mouse IL-1b. Initially discovered as the major endogenous pyrogen, induces prostaglandin synthesis, neutrophil influx and activation, T-cell activation and cytokine production, B-cell activation and antibody production, and fibroblast proliferation and collagen production. It promotes Th17 differentiation of T-cells and synergizes with IL12/interleukin-12 to induce IFNG synthesis from T-helper 1 (Th1) cells. It also plays a role in angiogenesis by inducing VEGF production synergistically with TNF and IL6.
Application Notes (Clone): This antibody can be used in the detection of human IL-1b using western blot (PMID: 19465481). This antibody was used for the immunocytochemical staining of nuclear IL-1b in human breast cancer samples (PMID: 21057224). This antibody has been reported to neutralize the human IL-1 beta induced stimulation of proliferation in the D10.G4.1 mouse helper T cell line in a dose-dependent manner. This antibody inhibits binding of IL-1RAcP to IL-1 bound IL-1R1. This antibody is also reported to be as potent as IL-1ra in inhibiting IL-1 induced IL-6 in human chondrocytes. (US20030026806).
