Description of Target: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the Janus kinase (JAK) family of tyrosine kinases involved in cytokine receptor-mediated intracellular signal transduction. Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal SCID (severe combined immunodeficiency disease).
