Background: Nestin is a big intermediate filament protein that was originally described by Hockfield and Kay (1) as a protein that predominantly exists in stem cells of the nervous system. During differentiation of the nervous system the expression of nestin is reduced. Nestin is also observed in other embryonic tissues (myoepithelia, lung, adrenal glands) and in different tumors like glioblastoma and melanoma. The strength of expression in melanoma cell lines can be extremely variable. Human Nestin (200-220 kDa in WB).
Positive Control: Brain, (SK-N-SH or SH-SY5Y cells for Western Blot).
Immunogen: Recombinant 150 aa peptide of the C-terminal human Nestin protein, conjugated to GST.
Purification Method: Purified IgG1 in PBS pH 7.3 with 0.1% sodium azide, BSA and gelatine.
Concentration: 100 µg/ml.
