CloneID: OX-78
Antigen Long Description: OX-78 was prepared by immunising rats against mouse CD48.
Buffer Composition: PBS with 0.02% Proclin 300.
Chimeric Use Statement: This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Rat IgG2a format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
Available Custom Conjugation Options: AP, HRP, Fluorescein, APC, PE, Biotin Type A, Biotin Type B, Streptavidin, FluoroProbes 647H, Atto488, APC/Cy7, PE/Cy7
Uniprot Accession No.: P18181
Specificity Statement: OX-78 binds specifically to CD48 targets and labels mouse thymocytes, B and T cells and macrophages. CD48 is a CD2 ligand and may be involved in the facilitation of interactions between activated lymphocytes. This protein is also likely to be involved in T cell activation.
Application Notes (Clone): This antibody binds CD48, and has been used in immunoprecipitation and blocking studies to identify and characterise CD48, the ligand for murine CD2 (Kato, 1992). This antibody is able to block the binding of a chimeric molecule comprised of the extracellular domain of mouse CD2 and human IgG1 Fc to T cell lines at the ligand site.
