CloneID: 18.44
Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with whole cells of Cryptosporidium parvum.
Buffer Composition: PBS with 0.02% Proclin 300.
Chimeric Use Statement: This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format for improved compatibility with existing reagents assays and techniques.
Available Custom Conjugation Options: AP, HRP, Fluorescein, APC, PE, Biotin Type A, Biotin Type B, Streptavidin, FluoroProbes 647H, Atto488, APC/Cy7, PE/Cy7
Specificity Statement: This antibody binds the CPS-500 antigen of sporozoites and merozoites of Cryptosporidium parvum. Cryptosporidium parvum is a coccidian parasite that infects intestinal epithelium and causes diarrheal disease in humans and other agriculturally important food animals for which specific therapy and immunoprophylaxis are unavailable. Cryptosporidiosis is self-limiting in hosts with normal immune systems; however, in neonates, the elderly, and hosts having congenital or acquired immunodeficiency diseases or chemotherapy-induced immunosuppression, cryptosporidial enterocolitis may become chronic and have severe consequences.
Application Notes (Clone): This antibody reacts with both sporozoites and merozoites of C. parvum in an indirect immunofluorescence assay. This antibody is capable of neutralizing sporozoites and merozoites in a time dependent manner (PMID: 2193057; 2473130). This antibody can be used for the identification of sporozoites, merozoites and CPS-500 antigen of C. parvum using western blot. The identification of sporozoite-neutralizing antibody was done using ELISA (PMID: 20086143). This antibody in combination with PLA2 or LL37 was also used in the generation of a biocide fusion proteins to kill C. parvum sporozoites in vitro and in vivo (PMID: 20086143).
