This virus is responsible for an explosive outbreak, with high mortality, in rural areas of India. It affects mostly children and is characterized by encephalitic illness or influenza-like illness and neurologic dysfunctions. It is transmitted by vectors such as mosquitoes, ticks and sand flies.

Application Notes (Clone): This antibody can neutralize prototype I653514 as well as the currently circulating strain 148974 of the Chandipura virus. This antibody can be used for the detection of CHPV in a sample using ELISA. This antibody can be used to detect CHPV in a western blot (Pavitrakar et al., 2018; PMID 30116984).
