Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with HBsAg subtype ayw.
Buffer Composition: PBS with 0.02% Proclin 300.
Available Custom Conjugation Options: AP, HRP, Fluorescein, APC, PE, Biotin Type A, Biotin Type B, Streptavidin, FluoroProbes 647H, Atto488, APC/Cy7, PE/Cy7
Uniprot Accession No.: Q67886
Specificity Statement: This antibody binds a clearly defined epitope 'DPAF' (amino acids 31-34) of the pre-S1 region of the hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis B is a potentially life-threatening liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It can cause chronic infection and puts people at high risk of death from cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Application Notes (Clone): This antibody can be used for the identification of HBV pre-S2 protein using immunoblot and western blot (PMID: 6492255). The original mouse IgG1 version of this antibody was reported to bind pre-S1 protein of HBV with a binding affinity of Kd= 0.24 nM (PMID: 10509818). Immunoblot analysis revealed that the tetrapeptide Asp-Pro-Ala-Phe (DPAF), located at the position preS(31–34) and conserved in all known HBV genomes, is sufficient to bind MA18/7 antibody (PMID: 1279369). It was reported that MA18/7 inhibits the binding of natural HBV to hepatocyte membranes (PMID: 7964611). This antibody has shown to neutralize infectivity of HBV for primary human hepatocytes, also blocked infection of primary Tupaia belangeri hepatocytes (PMID: 12915565).
