CloneID: OD01
Antigen Long Description: The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with subcutaneous and intraperitoneal injection of a 1:1 emulsion of 20% (v/v) virus infected BALB/c suckling mouse brain (total brain homogenate in physiological saline, inactivated with γ irradiation) and Freund’s complete adjuvant.
Buffer Composition: PBS only.
Uniprot Accession No.: P26313
Specificity Statement: This antibody binds an epitope in the hTfR1 binding site of the GP1 subunit of envelope glycoprotein of Junin virus (JUNV). Junin virus also known as Argentinian mammarenavirus is an arenavirus in the Mammarenavirus genus which causes Argentine Haemorrhagic Fever (AHF). Mammarenaviruses sporadically cause zoonotic infections in humans, which may lead to life-threatening viral haemorrhagic fever (VHF) disease. VHFs caused by arenaviruses are acute diseases with considerable mortality rates. Symptoms are fever, malaise, headache, nausea, diarrhea, petechial hemorrhage of the soft tissues, lethargy, and irritability. Members of the Arenaviridae family are enveloped viruses with a bi-partite RNA genome coding for four viral proteins. The virus is spread through the aerosolization of host rodent excreta.
Application Notes (Clone): This antibody can bind GP1 of Junin virus (XJ45 strain) in an ELISA. This antibody was used for the indirect immunofluorescent staining of Junin virus infected Vero cells. This antibody shows weak reaction with Junin GP1 in immunoprecipitation and western blot. This antibody can also neutralize Junin virus in an in vitro assay (PMID: 2471803). This antibody shows mild neutralization of Candid #1 strain in a plaque neutralization assay (PMID: 27044104).
