iLite® IL-6 Assay Ready Cells is a genetically engineered reporter gene cell line, optimized to respond to IL-6 with proportional expression of Firefly Luciferase where the activity of IL-6 and its agonist and antagonist can be assayed in a functional and biologically relevant format. The iLite IL-6 assay ready cells allows testing for specific IL-6 activity and screening for unwanted inhibitory activity of IL-6. The assay ready iLite IL-6 cells are based on the human embryonic kidney cell line, HEK293 (ATCC# CRL-1573), and have been genetically engineered and optimized to be responsive to human IL-6, resulting in a proportional expression of Firefly Luciferase. Normalization of cell counts, and serum matrix effects is obtained by a second reporter gene, a Renilla Luciferase reporter gene construct, under the control of a constitutive promotor.
