Background: CD19 is a transmembrane glycoprotein found on the surface of B lymphocytes and follicular dendritic cells, functioning as a co-receptor with the B-cell antigen receptor to regulate B-cell development, activation, and survival. Given its consistent expression on B cells throughout their maturation (except for plasma cells), CD19 is a reliable biomarker for diagnosing B-cell malignancies like acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and various lymphomas. Its specific expression profile makes it a highly attractive target for immunotherapy, including the development of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies.
