Scientific Background: Troglitazone, a member of the thaizolidinediones, is an anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory drug. It works by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) (1). It is a ligand to both PPARalpha and gamma. It also contains an alpha-tocopheroyl moiety, potentially giving it vitamin E like activity (which helps in inflammation) (2).
