Enzyme substrates

Enzyme substrates aid in the visualization of the protein-antigen bond. Substrates are converted by enzymes (HRP, AP) into chromogenic products, which precipitate in the tissue sample at the antibody-binding site. The choice of an enzyme-substrate system depends on the tissue sample, levels of antigen expression, way of sample processing and mounting and many others.
